Marie Norton, MA, NCC

Resident in Counseling, Co-Director

Come as you are to counseling. There is nothing you have to do, or be, in order to feel better. You don't have to know what troubles you or even have words for it. She welcomes adults of all identities and orientations. She works with clients to master trauma, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, weight management concerns, relationship challenges and the ups and down of normal, everyday life.

Molly Hurt

Counseling Intern, William & Mary

We all feel stuck sometimes, uncertain of what to do to feel better. Behaviors, thoughts, and patterns that served us at one point in our lives now hold us back, affecting our self-esteem, relationships, and health. A therapeutic relationship characterized by trust and warmth can provide a path for real change. I work with individuals and couples to gain vitality and heal. With curiosity and compassion, we'll identify what is getting in your way toward greater wellness.

My goal is to help you develop coping strategies and resilience, tuning into your needs and values. In my work with couples, I provide guidance to navigate resentment and hurt, better understand yourself and your partner, reconnect, and improve communication. I tailor my approach to each client, drawing from strengths-based, emotion-focused, mindfulness, and cognitive therapeutic approaches. Our work together will help you tolerate a wider range of emotions, become more regulated, and feel grounded in your authentic self.

I am currently enrolled in the clinical mental health counseling master’s program at William & Mary. My specialities include anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, stress management, parenting concerns, self-esteem, binge and emotional eating, and life transitions. Change is possible, both internally and in relationship. I hope you will reach out to schedule a free introductory call.

Correnthia Robinson

Counseling Intern, William & Mary

Dear Client:

Life is big and sometimes amid living it we lose our way, we fall down, we experience hardships, and we can struggle, mentally, physically and spiritually to overcome them. Having someone you can count on to help you see your way back, better than before, is the key to opening doors you felt were once closed, enabling you to gain a new perspective on life. I specialize on different topics of concern, to name a few anxieties, intrusive thoughts, depression, relationship issues for non-married clients, marital relationship issues, trauma and finding “the true self” through true spiritual awakening.

If you have found yourself needing that someone, I want you to know that I would be honored if you would consider partnering with me on your journey. I see it as a privilege not taken lightly. With my holistic approach to therapy, connecting to the core of who you are is vital. Establishing a relationship built off trust and compassion will enable us to get you where you need to be. We all fall down sometimes; I would love to help get you back up and help you make those hardships a thing of the past. You do not have to do this alone and in the process of that doing we can move those mountains out of your way, or we can stand on them.

Correnthia is a native of Virginia and is currently in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at William and Mary. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from Regent University. She is a certified Life Coach specializing in spiritual healing and transpersonal therapy and she is also a licensed Ordained Minister for those who desire to include their faith and spirituality as an aid in their therapy sessions to support ultimate healing. Correnthia takes a holistic approach using various theories that are catered for each client. Her goal is to form a strong committed relationship where the client knows they are safe and not alone in getting where they need to be.

Brian Fitzsimmons

Physical Activity Specialist

Hi!  I’m Brian Fitzsimmons and I love physical activity.  I say physical activity instead of “fitness” because this idea of “being fit” is fraught with weight-normative language that makes us feel that we need to conform to a certain societal standard and look a certain way.  When I engage in physical activity, particularly lifting heavy things, I feel better.  Lifting heavy things makes me feel less anxious and depressed.  Running, for me… does not.  And that’s ok!  Everyone has different ways of engaging with exercise that works for them and makes them feel better, both mentally and physically.

I have been doing personal training for over 5 years now because I truly want to help other people find what physical activity makes them feel good.  The link between physical activity and improved mental and physical health outcomes is a very strong one.  I struggled with depression and anxiety for many years and when I started to engage in physical activity regularly, I felt better.  Exercise, for me, was a great way to develop habits that supported and improved my mental health.  I firmly believe, and research repeatedly shows, that movement is medicine for the body and the mind, regardless of weight loss.

My approach to fitness is purely based on the individual.  In training with me, we will explore all areas of physical activity to find a way to move that makes your brain and body feel good.  We’ll focus on how exercise makes us feel and how we can build upon that in our daily lives.  Being able to help clients feel better about themselves, feel more at home in their bodies and be able to do the things they want to do is what gets me up in the morning, as cheesy as that sounds.  So come train with me!  I do online personal training sessions in 30-minute and 45-minute and hour long increments as well as hour long in-home training sessions for clients in the DMV area.

Brian is a game changer for me. I've been working with him for five years now, and I'm in the best shape of my life, both in terms of my physical health and my mental health. We focus on getting stronger, fitter and better, in every good sense of those words. Working with Brian has changed my whole approach to health for the better.

Before founding Virginia Health Counseling in Richmond, Virginia, I was fortunate to have worked as a Wellness Counselor at D.C. Health Psychology, the National Center for Weight and Wellness, and District One Therapy in Washington, D.C. My research interest is on the identification of weight bias in a therapeutic setting, its effects, and interventions to help remedy these effects. I present locally and nationally on this topic and am passionate about community involvement and changing the culture around fitness and weight management.
