Marie Norton, MA, NCC

Resident in Counseling

Come as you are to counseling. There is nothing you have to do, or be, in order to feel better. You don't have to know what troubles you or even have words for it. You just have to know there's something you'd like to be different. We'll figure it out together and maybe have some fun and laugh a little along the way. 

Marie tailors her approach to each client’s unique needs. Her therapeutic style is a blend of strength-based, psychodynamic, mind-body, and mindfulness approaches. She welcomes adults of all identities and orientations. She works with clients to master trauma, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, weight management concerns, relationship challenges and the ups and down of normal, everyday life.

Marie has been a Virginia resident since 2003. She holds a Master's of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The College of William & Mary. In addition to being a Resident in Counseling, she  is certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors. She practices under the supervision of Michelle O'Brien, LPC

Molly Hurt

Mental Health Coach

We all can feel stuck sometimes, uncertain of what to do to feel better, and frustrated that what we have tried has not worked. In my experience, a therapeutic relationship characterized by trust, warmth, and honesty can provide a path for real change. I strive to focus on what matters to you and to offer a flexible approach to support you with your unique needs.

With curiosity and compassion, my goal is to help you identify what is getting in your way toward greater wellness. Our work together can empower you to develop skills, coping strategies, and resilience, building on strengths and inner wisdom. I prefer to tailor my approach to each client and tend to draw from strengths-based, emotion-focused, mindfulness, and cognitive therapeutic approaches.

I work with clients on a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, parenting, self-esteem, and life transitions. I am currently enrolled in the clinical mental health counseling master’s program at William & Mary.

Rachel Carafello, MA

Health Psychology & Nutrition Coach

Hi there! My name is Rachel Carafello and I am extremely passionate about health and wellness! I have just completed my Master’s degree in Health Psychology in London, where I learned about the mind-body connection and the effect of diet, sleep, exercise on mental and physical health. I also learned about psychological therapies that are used to promote optimal wellness to help prevent and cope with physical diseases. Additionally, I have completed my Yoga teacher training in Uluwatu, Indonesia, where I learned how to teach pranayama, hatha and astanga yoga. I specifically learned how to help people connect to their mind and body through their breath and movement, in order to heal and find balance. Additionally I have completed a certificate from Cornell University in Nutrition and Healthy Living, where I was taught the science of food and the body and how to eat for a well body and mind. I am also really passionate about yoga, traveling, photography and am inspired by nature. I would love to help you reach your goals on your wellness journey in order to be the healthiest and best version of yourself possible!

Michelle O’Brien, MA, LPC, NCC

Professional Counselor & Health Coach

Michelle is a Board Certified Licensed Professional Counselor, Coach, and a Mind-Body Specialist who has  been helping clients improve their quality of life for over 20 years. Her therapeutic style is collaborative, friendly, informal  and warm. She uses creativity, humor, attentiveness, and compassion to  cultivate a healing environment.

Prior to her work as a psychotherapist, she worked as a personal trainer, group exercise instructor, health coach and  fitness consultant.  Her approach merges these fields as she take a strengths-based and solution-focused approach to addressing anxiety, relationship challenges, and behavior change. With an existential lens, Michelle utilizes narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mind-body techniques to identify unmet needs and change dysfunctional patterns.

Michelle is involved in therapists’ education with a focus on curriculum  development as well as counselor supervision. Her research focuses on the identification of weight bias in a therapeutic setting, its effects, and  interventions to help remedy these effects. She presents locally and  nationally on this topic and is passionate about community involvement and changing the culture around fitness and weight management.
